NMR Valtice, 2012 27^th Central European NMR Meeting

The Award is announced in two categories: mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance (sponsored by Scientific Instruments Brno). Any publication written in English, which was published or accepted in a peer-reviewed journal with an impact factor, and that fulfills Rules and Conditions listed below, can be submitted for competition for the Award. A work that does not meet Rules and Conditions criteria will be excluded without evaluation. If no publication of a sufficient quality is submitted, the award will not be awarded in the given category and year.

Rules and Conditions

1. The publication results in a determination of a molecular structure of a compound or introduces a new technique or methodology for structural characterization.
2. The work can utilize any technique (including computational), but an important part must be experimental and must utilize either mass spectrometry (MS) or nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. MS or NMR technique does not need to be the principal main technique used but its importance must be clearly demonstrated in the paper (for instance for confirmation of results obtained by other techniques).
3. The affiliation of the corresponding author must belong to an institution based in the Czech Republic.
4. Submission letter must specify if the work competes in MS or NMR category.
5. One person can submit only one publication annually.
6. NMR publication must be submitted before 31.12.2011.
7. For the year 2011 it is possible to submit publications from the years 2009, 2010 and 2011 including publications in press and accepted publications.
8. Publications, which competed in past years, are acceptable again this year (with the exception of the winning publications).
9. Review and tutorial articles are not acceptable.

Award

Submitted publication that meets the formal criteria of the competition will be evaluated in the preliminary round by the Laboratory of Molecular Structure Characterization (Institute of Microbiology) staff scientists and ten best works in each category will be passed to the Selection Committee. The best publication selected by the Committee in each category will be recommended for the Award. The Award consists of the 30 000 CZK financial premium and a diploma. Awarding in each category

The winners will be awarded by a leading officer (chair or section chair) of the Ioannes Marcus Marci Spectroscopic Society during a suitable event (e.g. School of Mass Spectrometry, Central European NMR Meeting, Czech Spectroscopy Conference, Annual Meeting of the Institute of Microbiology etc.) in the presence of members of the Selection Committee. The 2011 Award in the NMR category will be announced and handed over during the 27th Central European NMR Meeting in Valtice town (April 2012).
