Previous Following

The National Centre for Biomolecular Research (NCBR) is a department at the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University in Brno. Our research centre is located in the modern premises of the University Campus Bohunice, with the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC) and the Faculty of Medicine. This unique synergy and state-of-the-art equipment allows us to conduct cutting-edge research in the fields of bio-omics and structural biology. Our research integrates experimental techniques with computer simulations and bioinformatic analyses. At the Centre, we support talented students at all levels of study (undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral), including mentoring secondary school students in Students` Professional Activity (SPA) projects.

Dominik Hrebik received the 2022 PhD Thesis Award from the Czech Society for Structural Biology

Dominik Hrebik, successful alumni of DSP Biomolecular chemistry and bioinformatics, received the 2022 PhD Thesis Award in Structural Biology from the Czech Society for Structural Biology for his dissertation thesis "Characterization of viral cell entry in vivo and ex vivo" under the supervision of Pavel Plevka at CEITEC MU. Congratulations!

MUNI Mendel Doctorandus welcomes the new semester with new students and a brand-new logo

The MUNI Mendel Doctorandus programme for talented PhD students opened another admission procedure in January 2023. A total of 14 students across the faculties of the Bohunice Campus and CEITEC applied, and members of the MMD Committee reviewed their applications. After the evaluation, all applied students were admitted to the programme. There are, therefore, now a total of 57 students who are members of the MMD family and are enjoying support in their acquisition of interdisciplinary education and soft skills training.

Students from Czech universities do have the chance to achieve the best scientific results and work in top international teams under the guidance of Nobel Prize winners. Four recipients of Brno City Award affiliated with MU

Three scientists including Prof. Jiří Fajkus (NCBR & CEITEC MU) and one student of Masaryk University were among this year’s laureates of the Brno City Award for 2022. These awards are bestowed upon notable personalities whose activities are primarily taking place in Brno.
